Recently aired on Al Jazeera English – faiths & the ecological crisis

We were pleased to be a part of the recent episode in Al Jazeera English's earthrise series, which aired recently. The episode looks at what the faiths are doing to respond to the climate and ecological crises.

FaithInvest CEO Martin Palmer appears in the episode, called 'Believing in Change', which asks whether the world’s faiths can help bring about the mind-shift required if humanity is to rebuild its broken relationship with the planet.

It also looks at how the faiths are using their own considerable assets, investments and influence for the benefit of people and planet, and speaks to the people who are bringing the wisdom of Pope Francis’s Laudato Si' encyclical alive.

Al Jazeera English is an international 24-hour English-language news channel owned by the Al Jazeera Media Network, and a sister channel of the Arabic-language Al Jazeera. It reaches 80 million homes and can be viewed in over 100 countries via cable and satellite.

Its award-winning earthrise environmental series explores solutions to the environmental challenges we face today.

The 'Believing in Change' episode was prompted by recent calls by the heads of world religions for action to protect the planet.

In May 2021, an unprecedented joint declaration was published by the Pope, the head of the Orthodox Church and the head of the Church of England, the Archbishop of Canterbury, as well as 40 religious leaders. They called for urgent action to save the planet from 'an unprecedented ecological crisis' and pledged to step up their own action within their faith communities.

A few months later, in July 2021, one of the world’s leading Muslim religious authorities, the Grand Imam of Al-Azhar in Egypt took to Twitter to plead with the international community to take serious action to fight climate change.
