A Quiz for Faith-Based Asset Owners
We know that navigating the principles and practices of faith-consistent investing (FCI) can be challenging and, to many faith-based organisations, appear daunting due to an array of factors including misperceptions about the performance of faith-based investments and the sometimes-arcane terminology of asset management.
With approaches like ESG and Socially Responsible Investing often used interchangeably, it can be difficult to distinguish the unique aspects – challenges and opportunities – of FCI. Research carried out by FaithInvest provides insights to one likely result of this complexity: just 55% of the studied faith-based asset owners (FBAOs) had a clearly stated faith role in their investment policy, highlighting a significant disconnect between belief and investment strategy. Moreover, while interest in aligning investments with faith values is high, awareness of faith-based investing strategies or products remains low. A study commissioned by Boston-based Eventide Asset Management, for example, found that 88% of Christians say they are interested in investing in funds that reflect their values, yet only 23% believe they currently do so – a discrepancy which may speak to the need for having an effective dialogue with financial advisors.
Because investments can be an extension of a faith organisation’s mission in the world, these gaps in understanding and implementation really do matter. That’s why our work at FaithInvest is focused on equipping faith-based investors – like you – with the knowledge, confidence and tools needed to align your assets with your beliefs.
But we also believe learning can be engaging – and even fun.

So, for this week’s blog post, we’re doing something a little different. We’ve created a short quiz designed for anyone involved within a faith organisation in overseeing or guiding the stewardship of faith-based assets. Some of the questions in the quiz may feel quite straightforward; it’s intended to spark reflection, highlight key areas for learning, and help you take meaningful steps toward aligning your investments with your faith values. It’s a chance to challenge what you know (or think you know!) about faith-consistent investing and maybe pick up something new along the way.
This quiz includes eight questions, with the full list of answers provided after you take the test.
How did you score?
Now that you've completed the quiz, use your score to reflect on where you are in your faith-consistent investing journey – and where you might go next.
Score 6–8: Solid understanding – time to act with purpose. You have a strong grasp of the principles and practices of faith-consistent investing. The next step is ensuring that your knowledge is being applied in practice. Are your organisation’s Investment Policies aligned with your faith values? This is a great time to review your implementation.
Score 4–5: Growing awareness – room to improve. You're on the right track, but there's more to explore. Strengthening your knowledge around governance, policy tools, and practical implementation will help you move from intention to action. Consider how your board or investment committee might benefit from learning more about faith-consistent investing. We are here to help!
Score 0–3: Just starting – time to build your foundation. This is a great moment to learn more about what makes FCI distinct, and how it can be a powerful expression of your organisation’s mission and values. We provide the tools, insights and guidance to help you move forward.
