WORKING GROUPS

Our Working Groups offer faith groups and faith-based asset owners the opportunity to work together on a number of issues. Find out more about the working groups below.

FAITH-CONSISTENT INVESTMENT PLANS, POLICIES & GUIDELINES

This working group focuses on:

  1. helping asset owners root their investment policies and guidelines in faith-based principles

  2. designing solutions to help asset consultants, managers and other service providers better signal the alignment of their services and solutions to faith consistent investing principles which address the specific and differing needs and aspirations of each different faiths and faith traditions.

MANAGER DATABASE

This working group focuses on sharing Asset Manager information, and information on other key service providers.

The aim is to create:

  1. A database of managers and strategies known to our members with some basic information about each manager.

  2. An ability for FaithInvest to match members with specific searches or interests with other members active in the same space.

  3. An ability for FaithInvest to create outreach efforts to managers for specific needs or concerns.

IMPACT INVESTING – DISCOVERY, DILIGENCE AND A PROGRAMMATIC APPROACH; POTENTIAL FUND-OF-FUNDS

This working group covers the high priority, high complexity area of Impact Investing, with a focus on the particularly challenging areas of specialised due diligence and difficulty in building scale. Would fund-of-fund structures specifically tuned to the Faith Community be a solution?

This working group focuses on:

  1. Crafting best practice for a programmatic approach to Impact Investing.

  2. Better defining how to make fund-of-funds propositions work.

SUSTAINABLE BANKING

This working group explores ethical banking by identifying services, certifications and service providers, delivery methods and trends, aiming to:

  1. Document sustainable banking use and needs specific to faith-based organisations.

  2. Support members on implementing relevant sustainable banking relationships and services.

  3. Encourage banking service providers to engage faith organisation needs.

SUSTAINABLE BANKING

Real estate is both an operating asset and an investment option. Many faith groups control 'operating real estate' in the shape of houses of worship, hospitals, schools, etc.  This is unique to the faith community. Some faiths have begun to lever that real estate to further community impact – often in coordination with their investment goals and plans.

This group aims to:

  1. Facilitate the exploration of work already done in this space.

  2. Determine the potential for future expansion and greater impact.

SOLVING FOR SMALLER INVESTORS, (COMMINGLED SOLUTIONS)

The focus here is a long-term project for creating infrastructure that allows reasonably quick and cheap solutions for smaller asset managers who wish to have the benefit of discretionary investment choices which are they are normally restricted from.

At the simplest level, we will aim to create an environment where popular strategies or managers can be accessed quickly and simply by many members.  At a more complex levels, we may aim to create vehicles that allow the faithful to invest side-by-side with the faiths, i.e. the construction of commingled vehicles for our members.
