FOR PEOPLE AND PLANET

FAITH PLANS

The destruction of the natural environment – including the impact of climate change – is the biggest challenge to all life on earth. The world's major faiths are developing Faith Plans – long-term commitments looking at how they will manage their assets, investments, influence and resources to drive action on climate change, biodiversity and sustainable development.

ABOUT FAITH PLANS

Faith Plans for People and Planet is a framework created to inspire faith communities to use their assets, investments and influence for the benefit of people and planet.

It was created by FaithInvest and WWF's Beliefs and Values Programme, supported by leading faith-based networks, secular environmental groups and UN bodies, and so far organisations with a combined outreach of 157.5 million people have signed up to create their own Faith Plan.

The dedicated Faith Plans website – www.faithplans.org – where faith groups can find ideas, resources, inspiring case studies and examples of Faith Plans, and sign up to develop their own Faith Plans.

The Faith Plans framework builds on the success of the original 2009 Faith Commitments programme, organised by FaithInvest's parent organisation, the Alliance of Religions and Conservation.

DEVELOP A FAITH PLAN

Faith groups are invited to develop a Faith Plan to address climate change and protect the planet.

2009 FAITH COMMITMENTS

The Faith Plans Programme builds on the success of the original 2009 Faith Commitments programme, organised by the Alliance of Religions and Conservation and launched in 2009 by HRH Prince Philip and the UN Secretary General HE Ban Ki-moon.

It resulted in more than 60 plans which have profoundly shaped the faiths’ response to key environmental issues over the last decade.

Find out what the participating faith groups pledged during the 2009 programme.
